"When this began, it was
all just a big game. The curse..
I didn't think of it as such.. But now..
I see things differently. And I know I must
do what I can to find that cure. If not for me, then
for Chung. He may be gone, but I think he would be at
peace if he knew that I was alright. Yes.. That is what I believe."

Biography:
July 3rd, 1989 - The faint cries of a baby boy would fill the bed chambers in the Yakuma manor. The squalling child would be passed to his father.. His father would gently hold him and watch over his sweet child. Junjie had wanted to name his son Jian... in memory of his his brother that had passed away when he was a small boy.. But the newborn's mother refused. It took them an hour and a half before together they'd agree upon the name Jiuye.. Named after his grandfather on his mother's side.
Jiuye would be the final child to join the Yakuma family. Growing up was an easy time for the boy. He was a mommy's boy right off. Always seen with his mother, usually clinging to her legs her begging to be picked up. And when he wasn't with his mother, he'd be found following his brother Chung around. So as one would imagine, as he grew up, him and Chung had become like best friends. Though Jiuye looked up to both of his big brothers. Chung got him interested in fighting. Noukie taught him how to fish. Noukie had tried to get Jiuye to eat some of the fish that was caught after it was cooked, but Jiuye would refuse. He'd tell his brother it was icky. It'd be discovered around this time that Jiuye was a vegetarian. Something he'd remain the rest of his life.
At the age of six, Jiuye had followed his brothers when they had gone to train with Liu. It was because of watching them, that little Jiuye would take an interest in wanting to fight and wield a sword. His father wouldn't let him though at first. It was so much that Junjie was against it, it was Mei. Mei threatened to leave Junjie if he let the boy practice.. So out of fear of losing Mei, Jun had said no about it. Though after some talking to, Jun would allow it to go on in secret.
The age of twelve, he'd meet another Lord's daughter. Her name was Ayami. He was shy around her. And when Lord Yakuma and Lord Offini began to make plans to arrange a marriage for the two, Jiuye would put up a fight over it. He didn't want to marry her. In fact, when she called him cute.. He blushed and ran away having panicked.
At the age of thirteen, Jiuye would gain a curse. He had been training with his brother and Liu in Jusenkyo China. While his brother and Chung were preparing to make lunch, Jiuye had gone roaming by himself...wanting to explore. It was a place he had never been before. So he was curious. Though somewhere a long the way, he'd drop his sword in one of the ponds. He'd fall in trying to fish out the sword. He got his sword back...and it came at a cost. He'd be cursed..He'd leave his sword on the embankment before going to find his brother and uncle. He couldn't carry the sword. Though with the curse, he had been turned into a rabbit. So when he arrived, Chung thought he was a normal rabbit and captured him. He would dip poor Jiuye in it and would turn away to get a carrot to chop up. Jiuye would spring out of the water and dart over to a lake that wasn't part of the cursed springs dunking himself in the water to cool the burns all the while cussing at Chung.
Of course he got in trouble for the cussing. But with the burns from the boiling water, he wasn't happy with Chung. The normally timid, shy and very polite Jiuye had shown a side that he normally wouldn't by cussing his brother out.
The age of thirteen for him however was not a kind time to him. He'd 'lose' his mother a few days after his oldest brother had gone to war. The mommy's boy would end up without his mother now.. So one would find him often times doing nothing but crying. At night, he didn't sleep well.. Always nightmares. Of course he hadn't seen what happened.. He didn't know it was faked..But hearing what his brother saw... It left him with nightmares. The nightmares however had a bad effect on him. He'd end up with bed-wetting problems. The nightmares always being the cause. Both problems persisted for a good month before finally going away. Which he was thankful when both were gone.
Though because of her 'death', his father would constantly scold him for crying..His father had convinced himself that crying was something a man didn't do in order to suppress his own emotions. He'd drill into his boys' heads. And Jiuye would become afraid to even shed a tear in front of his father.
Because of everything that was going on in life.. The loss of his mother.. His eldest brother away at war.. He himself would retreat into himself. Not as bad as his father.. He was still a kind, gentle, sweet boy...And still the same timid and polite boy that everyone knew. By this point, his father had also started to believe that Jiuye was gay because Jiuye had yet to show any interest in women. An arranged marriage at one point had been a complete fail with Jiuye. But the truth was, he just kind of locked up when around a female.
At the age of nineteen, him and Chung would leave China behind. Chung having accidentally aquired a curse himself, he had become obsessed with finding a cure. But Jiuye... He had come to accept his curse. Some part of him kind of liking it. It suited him just fine. He was shy, timid..plus a vegetarian.. Mostly the exact traits as a rabbit.. So in his mind, it all worked out. But his brother didn't see things that way. Because of that, Jiuye would go with his brother to keep him company on the journey. But Jiuye didn't take any of it seriously.
The entire trip from then on out was a big game. He'd pull pranks on his brother.. Goof around near the fire at night. And try just be a complete goof. It wasn't till the faithful night that the two of them had been drifting for a week without food that he'd suddenly be forced in maturity. Roaming while half starved had lead the boys into a garden in the middle of the night. Jiuye had found a patch of carrots and lettuce. He had been content to eat that.. He had wanted Chung to eat with him. But Chung had found rye seeds and made bread instead over an open fire while he skinned a small deer. Of course Jiuye was grossed out by him doing such a thing to a deer...but he stayed quiet..knowing his brother would just tell him not to knock it till he tried it. Chung ate what he cooked that night. The meat he cooked was just fine..But the bread...the rye in it would poison Chung and cause him a slow death... One that Jiuye would be forced to watch.
It'd take several months for it to get bad enough to kill him. During the time that Chung was alive, Jiuye begged and pleaded with him to go with him to the clinic.. To go where they could get to medicine. But Chung would just tell him it was just the flu and he'd be just fine. This 'flu' would last from early August till late October. The poisoning from the food he ate that night slowly killing him. The night of Chung's death, Jiuye sat helplessly beside him...watching Chung see things that weren't there and ask over and over to hold Saya.. All it did was cause Jiuye to cry softly as he watched his brother...Worried.. By morning, his brother was dead. Jiuye went for help that morning.. only to be told later that his brother was dead and there was nothing they could do. The people that helped Jiuye would cremate the body and give the ashes to Jiuye..
Jiuye would travel away from there after that. Broken hearted and feeling completely alone in the world. Without his big brother around, he was also left to face the traveling lifestyle alone. Jiuye would end up lost several times because of it.. Without his brother there to help guide him and read the map, he hadn't a clue where he was going.
He'd spend the next three to four months on his own.. Lost in the forest by himself. So many dangers.. Wolves, bears...mountain lions... Being alone was dangerous.. If he fell asleep in the wrong area, he could have been severely to mortally injured. Though he was lucky in his travels. He'd eventually find the castle and has since settled into it, refusing to leave till the snow breaks due to the effect it has on him.
Because of his brother's death, he blames himself even if he won't flat out admit it. Because it had been his idea to eat from that garden that night. His vegetarian side having taken over when he saw the fields of carrots and lettuce. Even though it's not his fault, he feels that somehow it is. Because of Chung's death, he now barely sleeps. When he does sleep, it's only maybe an hour or so rest before right back awake and going again.. And that's not counting the minor cat naps. Since then, he has also become a very light sleeper. Small noises will startle him awake.
Going to current times, as mentioned already. He stays at the castle. Since his time of arriving at the castle, he has ran into first his beloved adoptive Uncle Liu.. And then later Saya followed by his brother, Haru and a new guy by the name of Jianyu. They're meeting has lead to tragic news and Jiuye now barely even eats let alone sleep. His days are spent either reading or sipping tea..sometimes both.. While he tried to find a cure for the curse.
His once joking manner about the cure now long gone. He's become very serious about it.. Believing if he can find it...that perhaps Chung will be happy and forgive him for mentioning the garden that killed him.
