Biography:
On June 28th, 1991, a tiger cub would be brought into the world silent, alive but not in the best health. Although when held upside down she'd cling to the doctor's hand, biting him with her tiny sharp baby teeth as she refused to be dangled. Of course at this point she was still blind as a newborn, but with how much effort she put into not getting held upside down the doctor's would conclude that with proper care she could lead a good life. The first time she was placed in her father's arms the cub would cling to him, but not out of fear, out of recognition. However, she would never know the touch of her mother because as soon as she could be held, the father refused to allow her. Not because he was a jerk, but because her mother was an alcoholic, junkie who had almost killed their baby through her habits. So it would be her father that would end up naming her Jun-Mee Lian-Tao and gave her his last name, Genji.
The reason why Jun's father was so adamant about not allowing her mother to have her at all was because he feared that she would hurt or kill Jun just to get back at him. At one point in time, they had been deeply in love and planned to spend the rest of their lives together. And when they had first known each other they'd both been heavy partiers which suited them just fine then. But then Jun's mother would end up pregnant and her father knew everything would have to change then. He proposed to her mother, quit all drugs and alcohol and started working, and her mother had agreed to marry him and promised her father that she would give up all drugs and alcohol for the sake of their baby. But that would be where the good times ended and problems began. Despite her promise to Jun's father, her mother would still go out and get high and drink behind his back. And when he eventually caught her she had begged him to stay and give her another chance, which he would do. But over the time between when he caught her and Jun's birth he watched her closely and she broke her promise at least 2 or 3 times, until her father broke off the engagement between them telling her he'd only marry her if she were to become clean and he was applying for sole custody of their child because he didn't trust her anymore. That had pissed her mother off of course and she'd gone out then and basically tried to kill Jun before she was even born by trying to get as drunk and as high as she could. But she was too close to her due date, only serving her water to break early. And because of her usage, her father had feared that Jun would be disabled or brain dead, but the worst in the end was that Jun had very bad health which extended into childhood.
Anyways, once Jun was born and her father took her from her mother, the woman would disappear, obviously not caring about getting to ever have anything to do with her daughter. Her mother would finally turn up around Jun's first birthday dead from overdose.
Jun-Mee's childhood would be a mix between good and bad. Good because her father absolutely adored his daughter and worked hard to give her everything that he could and she would end up nearly spoiled rotten. But it would be bad because of her health, since from birth she had a frail body that meant through her childhood she had to go through physical therapy in order to keep it in working order and possibly one day be able to live normally.
Through most of her childhood, Jun was quite the girly type, playing with dolls, and dollhouses, wearing pretty dresses and everything. It was partly encouraged by her father because of the fact he babied her and was overprotective. School life wasn't easy, but she managed through being fairly smart combined with being very determined. It was through her natural fighting/determined spirit that she also applied to her physical therapy that would make it so she improved faster then doctors had thought she would.
Things would begin to change for her when she was about 10 years old. For most of her younger years, her father hadn't dated at all, dedicated to his daughter. But because of the fact that she was doing so great, when he met a cat anthro woman that he liked he would begin dating her. Before she was even 11 years old her father married the woman, giving her a stepmother. Part of the reason he'd gotten married so quickly was how much he wanted to be able to give her a mother figure of some sort.
At 11, Jun was declared a fully healthy girl and no longer needed her physical therapy and special diets. It was about then that she began to change from her girly personality to a bit more of a tomboy because suddenly she had so many physical things she could do now. She joined as many sports teams as she could, trying to figure out what she liked and didn't like. And after school she got enrolled in gymnastics, just enjoying her healthy body. Also because of the very health concious life she'd had to live until then she stayed with that sort of life. Before the year was up Jun's favorite things to do had been narrowed down to gymnastics and kickboxing outside of school and in school she joined the boxing team.
Her life was great for the time being with her health and her family, as she got along with her stepmother. She'd had no mother beforehand, so had no reason to resent her. But this only lasted a short 2 years before drastic change took place that she had no control over. Her father who she adored would suddenly be out of her life when he was killed at work when a building at a construction site he was overseeing collapsed on him. No one ever knew why it had, but anyone who'd been inside at the time were crushed under hundreds of pounds of concrete and steel. This sudden loss was heartbreaking for her as she lost the only person she'd had for so long. She did try to turn to her stepmother, but the woman wasn't the person she'd appeared to be. Before she had tolerated Jun because she was no trouble at all and her husband's child. But during the two year marriage, she'd been unable to get pregnant with a child of her own and so when she was stuck with someone else's child she came to resent having to look after Jun. And her stepmother wasn't good at any sort of high paying job so with a low income coming in they would have to move to the harder side of town into a one bedroom apartment.
So, at 13 Jun-Mee had lost her father suddenly and traumatically and left with an uncaring stepmother who resented her and didn't make much money making it so they had to live in one of the poorest parts of the city. Without a support system, being ripped away from all her friends and a stepmother who made her sleep in a closet that just fit her single bed and a small side table and lamp, Jun-Mee began to act out. A previously sweet girl would turn bitter and angry. And living where she did it wouldn't take long before she began getting into fights. When local bullies found out about her explosive temper they'd take fun in provoking her.
For the next 3 years she was constantly fighting, coming home with bruises and cuts, bloody and sometimes battered terribly. There were even a few times that she nearly died when someone fought dirty and pulled a knife or another weapon on her. With that same fighting spirit that she'd always had though, she always pulled through. The toughest year would be from when she was 15-16 because her stepmother decided she had enough of Jun's fighting and was honestly frightened of her because Jun had threatened to hurt her when she had pushed Jun a little too much, she would kick Jun-Mee out onto the streets.
It would be a hard year for her, but she would make it through couch surfing with the friends she'd made or holing up somewhere now and then. It was about halfway through the year though that she started having her life look up. One week she had started sneaking into a local gym through an unlocked window she'd found to sleep there at night. At around the end of that week she hadn't noticed the light on in one of the other windows of the gym when she snuck in and settled down for the night. The light she had missed came from the office of the owner and by coincidence he would need to go into the room she had been sleeping in, needing something and found her. At first he was going to call the cops and have her arrested for breaking and entering which would make it so Jun would be put in juvie then foster care. And still at this time she was short tempered so had attacked him when he tried to do so. Under normal circumstances it would have landed her being charged with assault as well, but the owner was also a trainer at the gym.
Despite the fact that she attacked him, he would be impressed when she passed up a number of things that could be used as a weapon and simply tried fighting with fists to get away. Of course she would also use moves she'd used through boxing and kickboxing and even though he would win the fight he was impressed with her talent too. He could tell that Jun was a moral upstanding person with a great talent. Because of that and the fact she'd never destroyed or stolen anything when she'd slept there he would let her go and told her he would love to train her because of her potential. And if she wanted to be trained she could come back the next day and they could talk. Now the reason why he still didn't call the cops since she didn't have a home was because she had lied and told him that she just couldn't sleep at home because of being poor and the small place being crowded and noisy.
The next day Jun showed up and asked him to train her, but would be disappointed at the rates that he charged which even tho weren't a lot she couldn't afford. Because the man understood having come from a poor family he struck her a deal, he would train her for free but in exchange she would have to clean the gym. She jumped on the chance and took the deal. All through her 16th birthday Jun-Mee started training with the owner of the gym while cleaning it at night, while secretly still sleeping there nightly. At least until she turned 17 did it work out. During the year and a half that she trained under the gym's owner the two of them became close, like a father and daughter. And it would be about that time that he thought she was good enough to box in leagues and of course she took to that, loving the idea of winning matches in the ring. However as soon as the first out of town game came up the owner had insisted that he had to talk to her parents because he could get in a lot of trouble if he left with her and without permission. When she refused with plenty of excuses he became suspicious and waiting until she was supposed to be gone from the gym at night he snuck in and caught her sleeping there.
She would finally confess to him that she had been on her own since she was 15 and had been living at the gym for a full year. Although he was disappointed in her for lying, he felt bad for her, having heard her full story. So he would offer to adopt her, and she loved the idea but then they would find out that since she was 17 it would be rejected if he did. The government would simply throw her into a group home until she turned 18. But he decided he didn't care what they said and unofficially adopted her, bringing her home to live with him. Both of them were happy because the man had never gotten to have children and Jun had someone who cared for her again. Things started turning around. She got back into school and was doing great and boxing in semi-pro tournaments and was steadily moving up. When she became an adult she would have a real chance at boxing at the pro level.
Tragedy struck her again shortly after she was 18 however. Even though Jun was doing great in boxing there was some friction going on because Jun was a woman. And there were quite a few people that resented a woman boxing. Especially some of the men that she beat. And as there is with all sports the underworld has a hand in it. Jun had already gone into one pro match and came out victorious, and when her second one started approaching is when the trouble started. The guy she was to go up against was owned by a local gang and seeing her matches they were genuinely worried that their guy would lose against her. So they started putting pressure on her trainer and manager, the man who'd taken her in. But he knew how much boxing meant to Jun, how much she wanted to succeed and do well honestly. So without telling her, he told them to basically go fuck themselves. As always... they didn't like this and one day when Jun came back from school since she was still catching up, she came home to find the man who'd given her everything dead. Someone had killed him and threatened the same could happen to her if she didn't back out. Well... this set off Jun's temper of course and set on revenge she still showed up for the match despite their warning and having let them think she wouldn't show and default. But she showed up alright. And she was beyond pissed when she got into the ring and knowing that the boxer she was facing was one of the guys who'd helped kill the gym's owner she would show him no mercy. Jun wouldn't remember the rounds going by, nor would she remember the crowd cheering her on or the cries of the crowd when she began to beat the man to a bloody pulp, nor did she hear him pleading for his life. She never heard the bell ring when she won the match, nor would she have cared. Instead of stopping Jun continued to beat him mercilessly, pounding on his face over and over again. Jun only stopped beating on him when several people pulled her off of him, straining to hold her back. She would finally come back to her senses when the paramedics declared him dead. Although she was shocked with herself for having taken his life she didn't regret it one bit. Now she had another problem. Since she was 18 she was going to be charged with murder, an open and shut case in front of everyone there. And even if she beat the charge or got out of jail one day she was banned from fighting pro ever again. That was assuming she even lived much longer since she'd gone against the gang responsible for the death of the person she cared for.
In the ensuing chaos Jun knew she had to disappear and after having lived on the streets for enough time she didn't have a hard time doing so. Deciding that staying in China would be a really bad idea what with the police looking for her as well as one of the local gangs she took what little she had and disappeared off the radar. Where she ended up was in the neighboring country in Tokyo where she started trying to establish a new life for herself. And it wouldn't take long before Jun was back at the gym, keeping up her training and doing an occasional sparing match. She also got back into street fighting, having found the Underground fights which although were different from boxing she still loved the wild freedom she got from them since she didn't need gloves or anything when fighting opponents.
However recently the owner of the gym she'd been at passed away from old age and it was sold off so she'd had to find a new one to start frequenting. So far she'd hasn't been the luckies with it, but she just joined a new one that seems promising.
