Biography:
On February 28th, a dark night overcast by clouds Iku was brought into the world, bawling her sweet little lungs out. Her birth was usual and the doctors had no fear of her health, at least that they could tell right away. The unusual part was that her father was not present at her birth, but that was because he had been killed a few months before her birth. He had been a doctor in the hospital, and although he had been a kind and gentle man he was murdered by one of the gang member's who'd been brought in injured. Unfortunately her father had just been an innocent bystander in the scheme of things, trying to help a patient when the patient basically was attacked again.
Iku was a name that the two of them had discussed before his death, and her mother would combine her own first name with Iku's father's to make Iku's middle name.
One thing discovered when she got old enough however was that the girl had terrible eyesight and required glasses. In fact she was nearly blind without them, so she has had glasses all her life.
So, Iku would grow up without a father, and although her mother would have no doubt moved on eventually, the grief of his death was too much. At first things were normal, and Iku was a spoiled child up until she was about 5. It was about then that her mother's degraded mental state was noticed. She'd tried to hide it at first, minor suicide attempts that were more to cause pain then death, pain to distract her from her grief. As things progressed, she would become more and more introverted and disconnected with the world. Retreating into her own mind. Sometime after Iku turned 5 she had walked into the kitchen to find her mother just sitting at the table, staring off into space. Although there was particularily alarming about that, she had been cooking dinner and the water from the pot was overflowing. Iku had tried to get her attention, but Iku's mother only responded by telling her that her father would get it... of course this confused the girl because she knew she had no father. Her mother only snapped out of it when the fire alarm started going off.
By the time Iku was 8 years old, her mother was completely despondent and had to be cared for by her own daughter, helped to get dress, clean herself, everything. But Iku refused to tell anyone about it, worried about losing her mother and being sent to live with strangers. She didn't want to leave her mom.
However, when Iku was 10 her mother no longer even reacted to Iku, to even help her, help her. The last time that anyone knows that she moved on her own would be one day when she disappeared from the house and was found walking down the middle of a busy highway and almost ran down by a car. The police brought her home and when they found out that Iku was living there all on her own with her mother who responded to nothing they were forced to of course take her into government custody.
Iku's mother was admitted to an asylum after awhile when they determined she suffered from some sort of mental shut down, and Iku was put with a foster family. She would come to like the people she lived with, but never thought of them as family. At least 2-3 times a week she went to the asylum where she would visit with her mother.
And it was shortly after this all happened that Iku would make her decision on becoming a doctor, both medical and phsycological. Already a bright child she wouldn't have a hard time getting straight A's and going onto medical school where she studied both fields on scholarships.
She had also been researching her mother's condition and fully intended on working at the asylum her mother was at, to try and bring her back to reality. But that was not to be due to her mother having a heart attack and passing away when she was 24.
That wouldn't deter her from her goal though and once graduating she would go to work for an institution for the insane. No one knows exactly why or how she ended up there, but Iku was hired on by Faewood. An excellent doctor she has had a few successful patients and has made significant progess on many others... Although she has reached 29, one can only guess however how long she has before one of the inmates kill her, if she doesn't ever transfer.
